About Salt and Light Solutions
Matthew, or more commonly referred to as MaFt, has been making websites since 1996. Completely self-taught (by viewing other peoples code as well as studying various books on coding and design), he has developed his skills in design, CSS, PHP and MySQL Databases.
While studying at Lancaster University between 1998 and 2001 he gained his knowledge of computer repair, maintenance and networking as a 'hobby' along side his main degree.
Being made redundant in the Summer of 2006 forced MaFt to reconsider his options and he became self employed, concentrating on web design and computer maintenance as MaFt.co.uk/design and MaFt.co.uk/repair respectively.
Two years on saw the start of the next chapter of MaFt's career - teaming up with Chris to form Salt and Light Solutions to provide low cost hosting, web design and computer maintenance! Only God knows what the future will hold for this new venture.
Chris has been making websites for ten years now. He cut his teeth on Windows 95, and spent much of his time playing with "System Tools". In his proudest moment, he once managed to use DriveSpace to create a 60mb floppy disk! These days, he prefers more constructive computing activities, such as graphic design, video editing, sound production and PHP coding.
Eventually, Chris is going to be a doctor, as soon as he finishes Medical School in Sheffield. The NHS is waiting with bated breath. He currently runs a medical revision website, helping others with his knowledge of medicine and the internet.
He met MaFt through the ChristianPunks.co.uk website, and this eventually led to the formation of Salt and Light Solutions. Whilst MaFt is the programmer of the pair, Chris is geared more towards the design aspect of the business, drawing on his previous experience working as a Graphic Designer for the YMCA, and as a typesetter for Adelphi Translations.
Two chickens, a dog, and a wife take up the majority of Chris' time, and he is already looking forwards to retirement with great relish. Until then, he is waiting to see where God takes him...
Our mission is one of love. We are passionate Christians, and believe there's a God who loves us, who cares about us, and is active in this world. We also believe that God made us to be a shining light to everyone, to use our gifts to help the world.

We aren't saying we are perfect, and that we will never let you down (although our hosting does guarantee 99.95% uptime), but we are saying that we will work hard to ensure that your website rocks, your designs look fabulous and that your computer runs better than ever before. And we will always be honourable with our billing and prices.
